Your Water Source Matters

The water entering your home can come from a municipal supply or a private well, and the treatment considerations can be very different.

Municipal water may have issues with taste, chlorine, hardness or other characteristics that affect how the water feels and tastes. Well water usually comes with a wider range of challenges, including minerals, metals, sulfur and other impurities that may require a combination of treatment methods.

That’s why Davis Water doesn’t recommend residential treatment based on a product name alone. We want to know what’s in your water first.

Professional Installation and Service

A good water treatment system needs to be properly installed and maintained. Davis Water provides residential installation and service for water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, whole-house filtration, ozone and UV systems, and related equipment. The company also services most makes and models of water softeners, 3M reverse osmosis systems and Innovation Ozone and UV systems.

For systems that require regular filter changes, lamp replacement or other scheduled maintenance, Davis Water also offers maintenance contracts. That can be particularly useful for homeowners who would rather have routine service scheduled automatically than keep track of it themselves.

Do I need to test my water before installing a water treatment system?

Water testing is not necessarily required for every treatment system, but it provides very valuable information. Testing identifies specific characteristics and impurities in your water, giving you a better basis for choosing the right treatment instead of relying on assumptions.

What is the difference between whole-house filtration and reverse osmosis?

Whole-house filtration treats water as it enters your home, providing filtered water throughout the property. Reverse osmosis is installed at a specific point of use, such as the kitchen sink and provides more intensive treatment for drinking and cooking water.

Do I need a water softener if I already have a whole-house filter?

A whole-house filter and a water softener address different water quality concerns, so one doesn’t automatically replace the other. Filtration targets specific impurities or characteristics in the water, while a softener reduces calcium and magnesium that cause the effects of hard water.

Can Davis Water treat well water?

Yes, we do residential well-water treatment. Because well water can vary significantly from one property to another, testing and evaluation are particularly useful when determining the appropriate treatment.

How often do residential water treatment systems need maintenance?

Maintenance will depend on the quality of the incoming water, your water usage and the equipment installed. Reverse osmosis systems, ozone systems and filtration equipment require periodic maintenance, such as house water filter changes and servicing the moving parts in ozone systems. Ozone systems do not require lamp replacements. For systems that need regular attention, we can schedule regular maintenance.

Can you improve the taste and odor of my tap water?

In many cases, yes, but the appropriate house water filtration approach depends on what’s causing the taste or odor. We check your water and recommend filtration or another treatment method based on the underlying issue.
